Mullet haircut in Budapest, District XVII
Appointment: Precision Cut, approx. 60 min · Technique: scissors only
A mullet is shorter at the front and sides and longer at the nape. At LORINCZ Studio (Almafa utca 33, 1171 Budapest) it's a scissor cut only, with no fade, in a soft, modern form.
What is it?
The essence of a mullet is the contrast between the shorter front and sides and the longer nape. The 1980s version was sharp and high-contrast. The modern mullet is softer: the shorter part blends into the longer one with texture, so it's more wearable and easier to style. It's the mullet Budapest guests ask for when they want character without the costume.
Who does it suit?
It works on straight, wavy and curly hair, and looks especially striking on curls. It can be subtle – a soft mullet, where the difference is small – or bolder, with a longer nape. At the consultation we'll decide how pronounced it should be.
How we cut it
We work with scissors only, no clipper fade. We take the sides shorter around the ears, keep the length at the nape and connect the two with layering so there's no harsh step. We break up the top with point cutting.
Styling at home
A little sea salt spray in half-dry hair, shape it with your fingers and let the nape fall naturally. For more hold at the front, a touch of matte clay. On curly hair a light cream is enough.

Frequently asked questions
How long should it be at the back?+
That's up to you. A subtle mullet needs only a few centimetres of difference; for a bolder look we leave more length at the nape. If you're unsure, start with a soft mullet.
Can it be done with a fade?+
No, we cut the mullet with scissors only, no fade. If you'd like short, clipper-cut sides, the warrior cut or the taper is the right choice.
